So I’m not crazy enough to do NaNoWriMo myself (those people crazy) but I did spend a moment browsing their website and checking out their stats.
They measure how many words have been written so far by area. Leading the charge is that den of hip artisticness and style, Seattle. Second is Germany and Austria (together). Third?
Maryland.
I didn’t even know my neighbors knew HOW to write, and knowing Baltimore City’s record of public education, it’s not B-more that’s keeping Maryland afloat. We must have a lot of crazy people in this state.
The Old Line State beat out NY City by over a million words, and yeah, I know NY City is only a city, but center of culture/art my ass! Maryland is writing more than you and most people aren’t even sure where Maryland is on the map!
I’ve never been more proud of my dinky little Maryland.
